Dear Families,
Prep Learning Update
This term in English, our Prep students have been engaging with imaginative and informative texts to help them learn how to retell personal everyday experiences. One of the highlights has been reading We’re Going on a Bear Hunt by Michael Rosen and Helen Oxenbury. Students loved the rhythm and repetition of the story and made personal connections by retelling their own experiences of going on a nature walks.
This week, we’ve explored Magic Beach by Alison Lester, which encouraged students to think about their own beach memories and experiences. They were able to make meaningful text-to-self connections, which supports comprehension and creativity.
In Mathematics, our learners are developing number knowledge by ordering numbers to 20 and exploring addition and subtraction through hands-on activities. We’ve also been representing practical situations involving sharing and grouping, collecting and sorting data, and investigating measurement concepts such as length, mass, and capacity.
