A Magical Night – The Wizard of Oz

What an incredible journey down the yellow brick road! Our school musical, The Wizard of Oz, opens this week and I am sure that it will be a huge success and a special experience for everyone involved. A big thank you goes to our amazing staff who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to bring the production to life, and to our students who will shine so brightly on stage. It truly will be a weekend to remember, and we are so proud of what our school community has achieved together. Special thanks to Matt Sampson and the team at Baringa Secondary College for the use of their facilities and to our tireless P&C for their support in the coordination of the event – much appreciated.

Parent / Teacher Interviews – Thank You

I would like to sincerely thank all the parents and carers who joined us for Parent / Teacher interviews last week. With over 700 bookings, it was wonderful to see so many families sitting down with teachers to celebrate progress and talk about the exciting learning still to come. Your ongoing support and interest in your child’s education makes such a difference, and it’s inspiring to see our community working hand in hand to give our students the best start possible in their primary years.

Father’s Day BBQ – A Special Afternoon

What a fantastic afternoon we had celebrating Father’s Day at Baringa last Wednesday! It was exciting to see so many dads, grandads and father figures join us at school to enjoy time with the children. A very big thank you to the Baringa Mitre 10 team for cooking up a storm on the BBQ and for their amazing generosity in donating a brand-new four-burner BBQ as our first prize. We’d also like to thank Wayne and the team at Holey Moley Maroochydore for providing the entertainment – it made the afternoon even more memorable. Events like this remind us how lucky we are to have such a supportive and connected community.

Best Wishes to Year 5 Campers

Next week our Year 5 students and their teachers will be heading off on Camp Maranatha – what an adventure awaits! Camps are such a great opportunity to try new things, make new friends, and create memories that will last forever. We wish them all the best for a safe, fun-filled week and can’t wait to hear their stories when they return.

Farewell and Thanks to Chappy Sarah

This week we say a very warm thank you and farewell to Chappy Sarah, who has been such a caring and supportive presence at Baringa SPS over the past year. Sarah’s kindness and dedication to our students and families has touched many lives, and she will be missed. While we are sad to see her go, we wish Sarah every success in the next chapter of her journey. As a school, we are already looking at how we can continue to provide strong support for student and family wellbeing moving forward. At this stage there will be no backfill for Sarah until we have clarity over what options are available to the school in terms of a replacement position.

As we head into the final weeks of Term 3, I want to take a moment to thank our wonderful students, staff, and families for the energy, care, and commitment you bring to Baringa each and every day. It has been a busy but rewarding term, and the sense of community and pride across our school is something truly special.

Our Class Formation Policy

Our aim is to create well balanced, focused learning groups (classes) that will maximise children’s learning.  We consider current and past teacher observations, specialist teacher information, parent input and student needs and strengths.

Please NOTE: This invitation does NOT extend to the nomination of a specific teacher for your child in 2026.

It is important to note that the final staffing for the year is not made until day 8 of the new school year, and if additional numbers of children arrive, classes will need to be changed at the end of the second week of Term 1 2026.

Parents are invited to obtain a Parent Request Form from the school office or class teacher to provide information of a significant nature, that the School may not be aware of and may have relevance for class formation in 2026.

All Parent Request Forms are due by Wednesday 12th November 2025.

A reminder that school holidays begin on Friday, September 19, with students returning on Tuesday, October 7. We wish all of our families a safe, happy, and restful break – filled with time together and plenty of fun. We look forward to welcoming everyone back for a fantastic Term 4!
