Student Council Update

Baringa State Primary School’s Student Council has teamed up with the local charity organisation ‘The Shack’ at Nambour to support people in need over the Christmas break.

In upcoming weeks, each classroom will receive several ‘Tree of Hope’ bags for students to fill with non-perishable food items. We ask that each student bring a couple of items to fill up the bags if you are in a position to do so. This year the Shack are requesting specific products to meet the needs of the community. They have a ‘Family Hamper’, a ‘Couple Hamper’ and a ‘Single Hamper’. Please see the attached list for specific items required for each hamper.

We thank you in advance for your support of this charitable initiative.

Day for Daniel – Friday 31 October

On Friday, 31 October, Baringa State Primary School will join thousands of schools across Australia in supporting the annual Day for Daniel. This important day raises awareness about child safety and honours the legacy of Daniel Morcombe.

In the lead-up to the day, students will take part in classroom lessons and discussions focused on personal safety, recognising unsafe situations, and knowing how to seek help.

Students are encouraged to wear a red shirt on the day as a symbol of support for child safety education. Families can contribute to the Daniel Morcombe Foundation by donating a gold coin or via the QKR app.

Our tuckshop, Baringa Bytes, will also be selling a special Day for Daniel treat, with part of the proceeds going to the Foundation. Orders open Monday, 27 October via Munch Monitor (while stocks last).

World Teachers' Day 2025

This World Teachers’ Day (Friday 31 October) we are thanking and applauding our teachers for their dedication, hard work and positive impact they have on our students and community.  Visit the WTD website to listen to podcasts, download resources or read teacher stories from around the state. #WTDQLD

Surf Education

As part of our school’s Health and Physical Education Program, in Term 4 students in Years 5 and 6 will participate in a Junior Surf Life Saving Program. Surf Life Queensland, together with our school, will provide five 90-minute sessions, which will be held at Dicky Beach.  The program largely focuses on “Surf Awareness”. Students develop knowledge reading surf conditions to identify the dangers at the beach. This is an essential skill to keeping themselves and others safe. The program will be facilitated by qualified lifesavers adhering to risk assessment. Teachers will also supervise students at the beach.

Friday's: October 24th & 31st November 7th, 14th, 21st
6A, 6B and 6D: 8.50am - 11.05am
5C, 5D, 6C and 6E: 10.20am - 1.00pm
5A, 5B and 5E: 12.20pm - 2.35pm
PLEASE NOTIFY YOUR CLASSROOM TEACHER IF YOUR CHILD IS A NON-SWIMMER

Students will be required to wear their full school uniform to school. Students may wear their togs underneath their school uniform. Students may wear thongs to the beach as a substitute for shoes. Footwear is essential. Students will be required to pack a towel, togs, rash shirt, sunscreen, hat, water bottle and a bag to keep wet items in. Please be advised that sun safe togs including a rash shirt is mandatory.  When students arrive back at school they can get changed back into their school uniform.

Lunchbreaks will be provided to students at different times throughout the school day if required.

Year 5 Unleashing Personal Performance (UPP) Incursion

On Wednesday our Year 5 students participated in the Unleashing Personal Performance (UPP) program — a dynamic and engaging leadership experience designed to prepare them for their senior roles in 2026.

Throughout the day, students took part in a range of interactive sessions and team challenges that encouraged self-awareness, collaboration, and leadership. Key activities included “Leading With or Without the Badge” — exploring leadership through influence and kindness, “The EPIC Race” — an energetic outdoor challenge based on our A.S.P.I.R.E. framework, and “Knowing Me, Growing Me” — helping students identify and build on their personal strengths.

It was a fantastic day of learning, teamwork, and inspiration as our future leaders began their journey toward becoming positive role models in our school community.

Many of our students have also put themselves forward for Student Council selection, the first step in our selection of leadership positions for 2025. We wish these students good luck and want to remind all of our current Year 5 students that whether you wear a badge in Year 6 or not, you are still all leaders and role models for our younger students.

Thank you to Baringa State Primary School’s P&C who generously donated the funds to cover the cost for all Year 5 students to attend this incursion.  Thank you to our P&C for supporting this event.
