Is your child ready for BYOD in 2026?
Here is everything you need to know to prepare for a successful start to our Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program. This is especially important for families of our current Prep students who will be participating in the BYOD for the first time in 2026.
What will my child do on the iPad?
Students will use their iPads to enhance learning across all subjects. Activities include:
- Accessing digital content such as learning apps, resources, digital texts, Mathletics, Reading Eggs, and school-developed lessons via platforms like Microsoft Teams.
 - Creating digital journals using Seesaw—students can take photos, annotate work, record their voice, and complete interactive activities.
 - Exploring coding and robotics through STEM platforms that build early programming skills.
 - Producing digital content using creative apps like iMovie, Keynote, Microsoft programs, and Green screening.

Where do I purchase the iPad?
You can buy an iPad from any retailer. For convenience, links to Apple Education and School Locker are included in the attached PDF.
Recommended device:
- Apple iPad 10th Gen or newer
 - 128GB storage
 - Wi-Fi only (SIM cards and iPad Minis are not supported)

Already own an iPad?
Apple iPad 9th Gen devices will still be supported on our network.
Do I need to purchase anything else with the iPad?
To ensure your child’s device is protected and ready for learning, please provide:
- A sturdy protective case
 - Ear pods or headphones
 - Optional: Apple Pencil and keyboard
 - Strongly recommended: AppleCare Insurance and a screen protector

Where do I go to find out more information?

What apps do I need to download?
All required apps will be provided by the school through the School Resource Scheme and deployed via Intune.
Steps to prepare:
- Download the Intune Company Portal App from the App Store.
 - Use your child’s school MIS username and password (emailed early next year) to set up.
 - We encourage downloading free apps like iMovie, Pages, and Keynote during setup.

What else can I do to support my child as they move to the BYOD program?
- Provide a protective case for safe transport.
 - Talk with your child about what they’re learning and the apps they’re using.
 - Set up a home charging station and a routine for charging the iPad overnight.
 - Keep the iPad updated with the latest iPadOS (currently iPadOS 26).
 - Restrict adult content at home. (Note: Our school Wi-Fi has built-in safety filters.)
